Seeking Volunteers

We Need Volunteers!

Both the Metro District Board (MDB) and the Covenant Enforcement Committee (CEC) have open positions available. It is important that we fill these positions for smooth operations of the community.

The Metro District Board

The MDB needs a board member who will help us navigate COVID-19, help make the Family Center thrive, and work on creative ideas to solve common community problems. While the work is often difficult and sometimes time consuming, it is also rewarding. It is a great feeling to be part of putting on a successful event, solving a complex problem with a team, lowering the community tax rate, or making a successful budget. We need intelligent and community oriented people to join the board, even if they have limited or no experience. The time commitment is often 4 or 5 hours a month but can be as much as 20+ hours. Each member decides how much time they are willing to contribute.

The Covenant Enforcement Committee

The majority of the meetings of the CEC involve listening to neighbors with concerns about covenants. Sometimes neighbors are struggling with another neighbor, but most of the time we are trying to help when violations are either disputed (“My property isn’t that bad.”) or when a hardship means they can’t fix the problem (illness, job loss, deaths in family). The CEC works with these neighbors to try to find solutions that are fair to the community as a whole and to the individual resident. The CEC is also responsible for approving or rejecting change requests that require additional attention. We meet once a month and meetings are typically 2 - 3 hours long. We also answer 5 - 10 emails a week, during the summer, of varying levels of difficulty.

Membership on the MDB or CEC is a great way to give back to your community. It is also a good way to meet your neighbors and learn about how local government works where you live. Consider signing up by contacting Laurie Tatlock (720-274-8377 or laurie@mulhernmre.com) who will help you figure out how to help.
